Company Background

TGI was founded over a decade ago by American entrepreneurs. Today, the TGI team is comprised of over 250 professionals.  TGI has become the local JV Partner to several Multi-Billion dollar and Publicly Traded multinationals (The Carlyle Group, Superior Energy Services (SPN, NYSE).  Headquartered in Miami, FL, TGI has offices in Luanda - Angola, Cabinda - Angola. Georgetown - Guyana, and Miami-Florida.

TGI has proven its ability to facilitate unparalleled market efficiencies in one of the most difficult business environments in the world and now TGI has expanded its range of operations. 

TGI’s international team are key to optimizing business performance, combining local knowledge with international standards.  TGI holds an established portfolio of successful companies and ventures across a board spectrum of industries. 

TGI has diferentiated itself, finding a niche in its ability to manage and facilitate growth in markets with unique economic conditions. TGI focuses on investments and/or partnerships in which we can leveraging our infrustructure, relationships, and reputation, which we can be true value add partners, in which the TGI team play leading roles in the day-to-day operations of the recipient companies.

President & founder

Alexander Thomson

After working at the largest telecommunications distribution company in the world, Brightstar, Inc., Alexander started his own distribution company, Electrix, in Luanda and built upon that initial $180,000 investment a portfolio of companies working across several different sectors – oil and gas, telecommunications, hotels, real estate, hospitality, and more.  All of these companies are held under the umbrella of TGI.

Alexander manages TGI and its holdings on a day-to-day basis while also seeking opportunities across the globe that will enhance the breadth of services that TGI can offer its clients as well as investments that provide uniquely attractive returns for TGI and its investors.  

Today, Alexander serves as Vice President of Global Shapers (https://www.globalshapers.org/), is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, and is a Board Member of the US-Angolan Chamber of Commerce.  He is also the founder of the NGO 100%ForLove (https://100forlove.org/).

Alex has a BA from Babson College.  He speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Mandarin.

TGI BOARD MEMBER & 7 Mobile CEO

Helder Kiala

Helder Kiala is the CEO of 7mobile, a TGI's company. He is responsible for the company's strategy and results management. Prior to this, Helder spent more than 15 years in multinationals, responsible for several senior management positions. From 2001 to 2015, Helder was responsible for the performance and visibility of various brands such as SL, Rothmans, Dunhill , Cardbury, Chiclets, Tang, Royal Baking Powder, Trident, Remy Martin, Grant's, Famous Grouse, when he was responsible for Marketing and Sales management of British American Tobacco Angola, and later as Commercial Director of DDM, Angola's largest FMCG distribution company. 

Helder holds a degree in Computer Engineering, and a postgraduate degree in business management from the University of Wales.

Carlos Fernandes

Carlos Fernandes has been with TGI since it was first founded. He was the first employee of Electrix – a telecommunications distribution company, the first  in the TGI portfolio.  Carlos was born in Angola and knows the market inside and out.  Prior to working for TGI, Carlos worked at BP for several years managing their Angolan logistics and security in Angola.  He began working at TGI as the operations manager for Electrix and has now taken on that same position in several of TGI’s most lucrative and wide ranging investments.  He is now TGI’s overall Country Manager in Angola and serves as the CEO of Exceptional Service & Supply, Lda. (“ESS”) – TGI’s largest portfolio company, which provides support to companies in the oil and gas sector.
